The digitalization of the value chain of building construction projects is advancing rapidly. In order to help shape the development in the sense of a practical application, Confirm is involved in the Use Case Management of Bauen digital Schweiz / buildingSMART.

In order to tap the potential of digitalization for the building construction industry, the active participation of the participants from practice is required. But even these are unable to solve the numerous challenges of digitalization on their own. This is where the application case management of Bauen digital Schweiz / buildingSMART comes in. The recently launched platform is designed as an open-source network, into which application cases relevant to practice are introduced and processed in expert groups. Such application cases can be, for example: the generating of tenders directly from the model, industrial prefabrication or – the two cases involving Confirm AG (Ltd.) – staking out from the model and geo-referencing. At the end of each application case there is a so-called Information Delivery Manual (IDM). The methodology, which is based on the ISO 29481-1:2010 Standard, and provides a structured procedure for describing processes and the necessary exchange of information between the participants involved.

In the context of application case management, Confirm AG (Ltd.) was heavily involved in the founding of the ‘BIM2Field’ working group last year. With the aim of bridging the gap between planning and building construction, the working group will launch a variety of other application cases in the coming months. Planning is foreseen in the following sectors, among others:

  • Model-based reinforcement
  • Digital plan management
  • Augmented Reality supported installation (object to object)
  • Augmented reality supported target / actual comparison
  • Digital construction management
  • Establishment with views from model
  • Component tagging with GUID
  • As Built – As Planned comparison with 3D Scan
  • Generation of machine-readable production data from model
  • Construction process simulation (4D BIM)
  • Construction process simulation with logistics planning (4D BIM + logistics)

More on the opportunities provided by the ‘BIM2Field’ is available in the explanatory video published just in time for Swissbau 2022 explanatory video.
